Cynthia A. Burnham
Cynthia Burnham is an executive coach with The Leets Consortium, headquartered in Irvine, California.
Cynthia is a highly-experienced senior management development specialist who brings her clients extensive expertise in motivational leadership, executive presence, communications alignment, sales and career development. Called a “charisma coach” by her clients, she helps leaders become more confident and so they can connect more powerfully with important employees, colleagues and clients.
Cynthia has worked successfully both front-of-the room and one-on-one and with clients as diverse as scientists, salespeople, sheet metal workers and Fortune 500 global financial managers. Cynthia is a regular speaker and panelist at corporate and industry events, and is the soon to be published author of “The Charisma Edge: A How-to Guide For Turning On Your Leadership Power.” Cynthia’s ability to help companies and individuals understand, integrate and accelerate change has made her an invaluable asset to the organizations with which she has worked.
Prior to returning to her home, San Diego, in 2005, Cynthia was Senior Vice President, Director of Employee Relations & Learning for UBS Financial Services, Inc. (formerly PaineWebber). In that capacity, she led multiple groups for the 20,000 U.S. employees of the division. She managed a full-service field and home office training department, as well as Corporate Employee Relations, which created Human Resources policies and programs and included a widely-acclaimed internal alternate dispute resolution department. She also managed Diversity on an interim basis during an extended search for a Director of Diversity.
Before PaineWebber, Cynthia ran a successful consulting and training practice, where, along with coaching, she was a motivational speaker, and a workshop facilitator who developed and delivered programs in career development, change management, and Women’s Leadership, among others. She was also a book editor, most notably of “How to Leave Your Job and Buy a Business of Your Own,” by McGraw-Hill business author Pete Peterson.
Cynthia began her career in sales, with Gillette, Safety Razor Division. She spent nearly ten years in consumer packaged goods sales, sales management, and sales training, first with Gillette, and then with Duracell, USA. She was the national Sales Training Manager for Duracell, USA, had National Account-level responsibility with customers such as Sam’s Wholesale Club, and held field sales and field sales management positions throughout the U.S., including District Manager positions managing both direct sales forces and food broker networks.
Cynthia earned an M.B.A. in Marketing from U.C.L.A., and a B.A. in Creative Studies from the University of California at Santa Barbara, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and spent her junior year in Bordeaux, France. She also completed one year of coursework toward an M.A. in English Literature. She is certified in several assessment instruments, including MBTI, Lominger 360, DiSC, and Firo-B. Cynthia speaks conversational French, beginning Spanish, and is a professional singer and songwriter, living in Descanso, CA. She is also certified in Laughter Yoga.
