Rachel Mickelson

Rachel Mickelson is an executive coach based in Southern California, working with The Leets Consortium, a global, corporate coaching firm.

Rachel’s expertise is in leadership development. For the past 18 years, Rachel has effectively coached executives and consulted to their teams in a variety of organizations, helping them become leaders who successfully manage themselves, their teams and their organizations to create value and sustainability. She believes great leadership consists of both competence and character, and while effective leaders often have the former, a leader can achieve new levels of performance by developing their capacity for emotional intelligence. This often involves development of the Self through greater self-awareness, uncovering blind spots, understanding and testing mental models and assumptions, learning to effectively motivate their teams, and creating a deep capacity for empathy.

In addition to her role as an executive coach, Rachel also consults with leadership teams in the areas of strategic planning and implementation, organization design, and team development. She has helped leaders and organizations in Fortune 500 companies as well as middle market firms. Rachel knows firsthand what is needed to lead organizations.

Prior to launching her consulting career, Rachel was a successful leader and manager in retail and manufacturing. In her leadership role in a manufacturing organization, Rachel successfully developed and implemented key human resource and organization development programs, and executive and middle management strategic initiatives. These included senior leadership coaching and training, performance management, succession planning and cross-culture communications. In just over five years, this successful startup was acquired, and subsequently Rachel assisted in the strategic integration process.

Her clients include Board Chairs, CEOs and senior business leaders, including family-owned businesses. She brings strong personal and professional skills and ethics to her clients, gleaned from her diverse experiences and successful track record as a manager, business owner, internal consultant and external coach and consultant over her career to date. Rachel’s approach is strategic, results-oriented, creative, and customer-focused.

Rachel has a Master’s degree in Organization Development (MSOD) from Pepperdine University. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Honors Psychology from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada and a Business Administration Diploma from Grant MacEwan College, Edmonton, Canada. Rachel was one of the founders and Board member of her MSOD alumni organization. She served on the Board of Directors for the Dubnoff Center for Child Development, where she headed the Strategic Planning Committee. Her work with AHOPE for Children involved consulting and coaching of the Executive Director, as well as strategic planning and implementation. She was a founding Board member of Kaleidoscope/Pact, an Adoption Alliance that supports adoptive families with children of color.

Rachel is an ICF Certified Coach (PCC), Certified for The Leadership Circle (TLC) 360 Feedback tool, Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) Executive Coaching (360 assessment suite), Marshall Goldsmith training, FIRO-B, SDI, DISC, Thomas Kilman, MBTI, and the Global Leadership Profile (a J&J leadership development tool).
